Resurfacing of Racecourse Road in Montague Gardens

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate wants to advise road users of roadworks between Montague Drive and Omuramba Road on Racecourse Road, Milnerton. The work is scheduled to take place from Saturday, 24 June 2023 at 19:00, throughout the night, until Sunday, 25 June 2023 at 17:00 (weather permitting). Residents can expect an increase in their regular travel times and a level of noise pollution during this time.
The resurfacing of Racecourse Road entails the 300m stretch from the intersection with Montague Drive to Omuramba Road with the removal of existing asphalt surfacing and replacing it with a new 50mm thick asphalt surfacing layer.
This segment of the road will be closed from Saturday night until 17:00 this Sunday. Only local access will be accommodated to Rainbow Office Park and the Engen fuelling station where possible.
All road markings removed with the asphalt surfacing will be reinstated on the newly placed asphalt.
Road users are asked to adhere to the traffic accommodation signage and speed limits.
‘The purpose of this work is to maintain the road surface and take it back to its original good state. We urge those who plan to use Racecourse Road this weekend to please exercise patience or use alternative routes on the days on which the road is closed,’ said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
